Bridgestone America´s Golf Cup Presented by Value: Mexico, the epicenter of Latin American golf.
The eyes of American golf are looking to Mexico this week for the second edition of Bridgestone America´s Cup presented by Value Golf, an event part of PGA TOUR Latinoamérica schedule, played at Club Campestre in Mexico City.
It is all set for Mexican fans; they will be able to see many of the best PGA TOUR players in the two-player team competition. The stars are the American Matt Kuchar (No. 13 in the world ranking), the Mexican Carlos Ortiz (regular PGA TOUR player), Esteban Toledo (member of the Champions Tour) and Fabrizio Zanotti from Paraguay (European Tour player). 30 teams will be playing this Thursday to be crowned the best American Team. The tournament has no cut and the purse is of $300,000.
The action will begin on Thursday at 9:14 when Chileans Christian Espinoza and Guillermo Pereira, and Marcelo Rozo and Manuel Merizalde for Colombia tee off officially inaugurating this second edition of the event.
Among the outstanding groups to follow are the local Toledo and Alex Quiroz at 11:20. The Paraguayans Zanotti and Marcos Ruiz will start playing at 11:34, while at 12:02 the US team of Kuchar and Justin Hueber, best American ranked in the PGA TOUR Latinoamérica, with Mexicans Ortiz and Rodolfo Cazaubón.
On Wednesday, Tiger Woods was once again was the center of the scene when, in the morning, at the Club Campestre, he participated in a Meet and Greet at a breakfast offered to sponsors and visited some parts of the golf course. There also were two Pro-Ams for special guests of the main sponsors of the event.
